Denise: Artist Statement
This is for my daughter, Michelle. She loved the ocean and the sky. She used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to her baby boys—my grandsons. The sun, the ocean, the skies. She worked on the Vineyard for 4 summers and she fell in love with it.
I have pictures of with her brother as children, also at the beach. The other is a picture of her wedding day. My mom is also in the picture. The sea glass is from the beaches. The rose petals are from her celebration of life event. I added the butterfly because she loved them and her Gram used to always say when she saw a butterfly…”Oh, there’s Michelle.”
