Mary S: Artist Statement
My painting represents Julie. Her favorite color was purple. Her favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day. I put her picture on it because she was beautiful. The writing “Scott Strong, Julie’s way, 1990-2020” represents T-shirts we had made for a substance abuse walk, Mike’s 5 K, that we do every year in Julie’s honor. The heart represents a heart I have hanging in my car, made of the flowers from her funeral.
